Boy or Girl Which Shall it Be?

What GREAT News!! My husband and I are going to have three new grand-babies in 2009, Wow, it doesn’t get better than that.  We love the three we already have, three more will be all the better.  I just wanted to share a sweet poem to give to expecting parents.

Which Shall It Be?
Some folks pray for a boy,
and some for a golden-haired little girl to come.
Some claim that there’s more joy
Wrapped in the smile of a little boy,
While others pretend that the silky curls
And the plump, pink cheeks of a little girl,
Brings more bliss to the old home place
Than a small boy’s wiggly, little freckled face.
Now, which is better?   I couldn’t say!
If the Lord should ask me to choose today.
If He should put in a call to me
And say, “Now, what shall your order be–
A boy or a girl–I have both in store.
Which of the two are you waiting for?”
I’d say with one of my broadest grins,
“Send either one, if it can’t be twins!”
I’ve heard it said, to some folks’ shame,
That they’d cried with grief when a small boy came,
For they wanted a girl.
And some folks I know who wanted a boy,
Went on so when a girl was sent.
But it seems to me that mothers and fathers should happy be
To think that when the stork has come and gone,
That the Lord would trust them with either one.
A boy or a girl–there can be no choice–
There’s something lovely in either voice!
And all that I ask of the Lord to do
Is see that the mother comes safely through,
And guard the baby and have it well,
with a perfect form and a healthy yell,
And a pair of eyes and lock of hair,
Then boy or girl, its dad won’t care.

Two Horses

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if you stop your car, or you’re walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down,
but has made a good home for him.

This alone is amazing, if nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her.

As you stand and watch these two friends, you’ll see how she is always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is – trusting that she will not lead him astray. When she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops occasionally and looks back, making sure her friend isn’t too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others see.

Good friends are like this ………. You don’t always see them, but you know they are always there.  Listen for the bells.

“Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet
is fighting some kind of battle”.

Getting Out of Debt

Elderly People

An Elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle.

She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her lungs, “I have a gun, and I know how to use it!  Get out of the car!”

The four men didn’t wait for a second threat.  They got out and ran like mad.

The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into the driver’s seat.  She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition.

She tried and tried, and then she realize why.  It was for the same reason she had wondered why there was a football, a Frisbee, and two 12-packs of beer in the front seat.

A few minute later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down.

She loaded her bags into the car and drove to the police station to report her mistake.

The Sergeant to who she told the story couldn’t stop laughing.

He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a car jacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair, and carrying a large handgun.

No charges were filed. Moral of the story?  If you’re going to have a senior moment…make it memorable.

(This is supposedly a true account recorded in the Police Log of Sarasota, Florida)

Buried Alive?

Feel like DEBT has YOU Buried Alive?    This story’s for you!

“There was an old farmer who had a donkey. That donkey was out wandering the farm one day and came upon a deep dark well.  He took one step to close and down he went.   He started making all sorts of donkey noises; soon the farmer and the neighbors came running.  They tried everything to get that donkey out of the hole, finally the old farmer said, there’s nothing left to do but bury him. They started shoveling in dirt.  The donkey made even louder donkey noises, he knew he’d better take matters into his own hands or be buried alive. Every time they shoveled in dirt, he’d shake it off and jump on top, shake it off and jump on top.  It wasn’t long before that donkey walked right out of that hole.”   There is a way out of that hole!
